What is Augmented Reality?

Augmented reality, unlike virtual reality, is taking the world that we already live in a make it better. Augmented reality essentially overlays information on the real world.

To overlay the information, a camera will identify the distance and the angle an object is from the camera. The camera is able to do this through the use of different sensors. Then the projects digital information on the image which allows the user to augmented reality.

Uses

There are hundreds of uses for augmented reality. One of the uses is to be able to scan an object and be able to get information about it. This can be usefull for people trying to learn more about an object.

Techonologies

One of the most mainstream uses of augmented reality has been through smartphones. Pokémon Go was one of most downloaded apps. It was heavily based upon the use of augmented reality by using a smartphone camera.

Benefits

With augmented reality, more of it is being made hands free. Augmented is already being implemented in car technologies. One of these technologies is car being able to project your speed on the windshield.

Concerns

With advanced in new technologies, there are more cybersecurity risks. One of these risks is the fact that hackers may be able to take control of an augmented reality system and change what is being projected.
